In Britain's regency period calling cards
were an important part of introductions,
invitations, and visits in society. Cards
from visitors were placed on a silver salver
in the entry hall in view of anyone who
might visit.
In the past the etiquette of paying calls
was a formalized ritual, but today paying
calls is far more casual...and particularly
easy on the internet. |
