Imagine being swept
away in the middle of the night, to be tied to a bed
and ravished by a HANDSOME DEVIL. This is the
predicament that Elizabeth Forbes finds herself in
when she tries to determine the fate of her missing
brother Aidan.
Lord Lucas Marston is
a HANDSOME DEVIL if there ever was one. Rich, titled
and landed, Lucas has an alluring reputation as a
notorious rake that even the self-respecting
debutantes of the ton find hard to resist. And he is
the only man that could possibly lead Lady Elizabeth
Forbes to her brother.
When the
manipulations of a jealous rival wreaks havoc and
misunderstanding between the two, an abduction is
set in motion and thus the tenuous start of a
determined maid's journey begins in her search for
truth and love. Through the glittering ballrooms of
London, across the sweeping Highlands of Scotland
and into the murderous bowels of Edinburgh, this
pair of headstrong lovers will traipse before they
find that which they seek.
As their voyage
commences, the many intriguing facets of Lucas are
revealed to Elizabeth and us ardent readers. As the
irresistible rascal with hidden nobility and
kindness, Lucas proves why he very much deserves the
exalted title of "hero".
Donna McAteer crafts
a worthy tale reminiscent of the gothic romances
where the innocent maiden is spirited away into the
night to be ravished by the magnificent rogue. By
turns scintillating and dark, Donna's passionate
detailing of steamy intimacies and gruesome
encounters make this a historical not to be set
aside until the very last page.

Elizabeth Forbes is
on the hunt. Not for a man, but for information;
information that could lead her to Aiden, her
missing brother. When her sources tell her to speak
with Lord Lucas Marston, she hopes in her heart that
he will be helpful in locating her missing loved
one. While attending a party, Elizabeth obtains the
help of a footman to bring Lucas to her side so she
can ask him about her brother. Unfortunately, fate
has other plans and Elizabeth soon finds herself
tied to Lord Marston’s bed, the subject of his
intense, sexual games. When she protests her
innocence of a written agreement to be his sexual
plaything, Lucas doesn’t believe her until he
realizes that they have one thing in common. They
both want to find the person responsible for the
disappearance of young men throughout Edinburgh.
Lucas receives a
naughty note from a footman and can’t help but be
intrigued. Coming into contact with the mysterious
writer of the note, Lucas listens to the woman and
agrees to seeing and fulfilling her friend’s
fantasies. While he doesn’t know that the fantasies
are fabricated, with one look at Elizabeth he knows
he can’t let her go. When he discovers the mystery
of her missing brother, Lucas and Elizabeth come to
a partnership of sort. They both want the same
thing, right?
HANDSOME DEVIL describes Lucas to a tee. Fully aware
of his charming manner and overt sexuality, he takes
no prisoners in the game of love and Elizabeth is
not immune. Lucas fully intended to awaken her
desires just like he was led to believe. Because of
this, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by the ways
the events unfolded. Elizabeth has an ingrained
sense of loyalty that I couldn’t help but admire.
She also has an innocent sexiness that, while
sounding contradictory, is an appealing trait that
readers will find believable and endearing.
HANDSOME DEVIL is
suspenseful and will keep your attention. I found it
very entertaining and enjoyed it very much. It will
keep you enthralled.
